Dissatisfaction over slow pace of road, bridge, embankment construction


Cuttak, (EMIS): The review meeting of the District Council Standing Committee-3 was held today at the new conference room of the office of the Chief Development Officer and District Council Executive Officer. In the meeting held under the chairmanship of District Council Deputy Chairperson Subhadra Dash, Standing Committee-2 Chairman Ashish Kumar Sahu expressed dissatisfaction over the slow pace of road work being carried out under different schemes at various places. It was alleged that the roads from Trishuliya to Barang, from Trishuliya to Naraj, Banki were not being properly constructed by the Public Works Department. However, the Superintending Engineer promised in the meeting that the repairs of these roads would be completed soon. Similarly, Badambara District Council member Rabindra Kumar Sahu drew attention to the fact that although money was sanctioned for the Bengerisinga road in Gopa Mathura, the work was going on at a slow pace. By now, the road work from Gopa Mathura to Gopinathpur has been completed. It was said that the remaining road is very slippery. However, the engineer of the Rural Development Department promised that the work would be completed soon. Similarly, the 2 km road to T-bridge in Gopinathpur has also become slippery.
Suggestion to speed up the drinking water supply system:-
Because of which tourists are facing difficulty in going to Bhattarika, Deojhar, Eco Retreat etc. The Superintending Engineer has been asked to complete their repairs immediately. It is alleged that there is a delay in the completion of the Mera Pipe Water Project. 134 villages in Badamba were earmarked for this purpose, but so far only 74 villages have been able to get piped drinking water supply. Similarly, Shri Sahu was upset that funds were sanctioned for the construction of the river embankment road from Singhnath to Bhattarika, the river embankment road from Gopinathpur to Shankhamari, but the work could not be done. Funds were sanctioned for the construction of the Kanjiapal Biju bridge from Mangarajpur. But the bridge embankment plan was changed, but the work was not done. Therefore, the Rural Development Department has been asked to proceed with the work urgently. On the other hand, there was anger over the demand for additional security deposit from TPCODL, so the engineer of the concerned department was present, but he argued why the security deposit was being demanded. The Chairperson suggested installing solar systems on the electric light poles in various crematoriums in Cuttack Sadar area. Since the summer is approaching, she also advised the concerned engineers to ensure proper maintenance of the drinking water supply system and complete the road repair work immediately.
