Our Culture and Heritage Must Be Revived Amid the Tide of Westernization: Research-Based Book Launched in Jajpur

The research-based book “Culture, Cultural Heritage, Social Change and Modernity” was formally released at the campus of D.U. Public School and Higher Secondary School, Chandikhol, in Jajpur district. The programme was held under the chairmanship of retired professor Dautari Sahu of Utkal University. The event was graced by eminent researcher and educationist Dr. Santosh Mohapatra as the Chief Guest, while former professor of Dharamshala College Manoranjan Mohanty delivered the keynote address. Principal of Haridaspur Kanchiya High School, Anita Tripathi, and Associate Editor of the book Dr. Biswajit Mohapatra also took part in the book release. Speaking on the occasion, the speakers emphasized that Indian culture and heritage, gradually being eroded under the influence of Western education and unchecked modernity, must be consciously revived and preserved. They observed that the book offers a thoughtful and research-oriented perspective on culture, heritage, and social transformation in the contemporary world. The editor of the book, researcher Manas Kumar Rout, introduced the theme and objectives of the publication, welcomed the guests, and expressed gratitude to all participants. During the programme, several distinguished personalities were felicitated for their outstanding contributions. Debabrata Rout was honored for social service, Sagar Jena received the Best Humanitarian Award, Ghanshyam Swain and Anita Tripathy were recognised as Best Teachers, Dr. Dibya Ranjan Tripathy was conferred the Ama Aaitiha Yuva Aitihasik Award, and Suresh Kar was presented with the Journalist Aniruddha Samantaraya Smriti Award. The guests and members of the editorial team were also felicitated by the President of DU School, Dr. Sujata Mohapatra, and Vice-President Dr. Rajshree Mohapatra. On this occasion, the list of awardees was read out by journalists and teachers including Prasanna Biswal, Pritima Dhir, Monalisa Nayak, Sehnamayi Sahu, Laxmipriya Satpathy, and Madhusmita Mallik. In the concluding session, certificates and complimentary copies of the book were distributed to contributing authors. The publication has been brought out by Ama Aaitiha International News and Publishing House, with active cooperation from the teachers and staff of the school, including Debashish Panda, Biswajit Parida, Prashant Samal, and Binod Kumar Chinar.
