Karwar, 29/12/25: President Draupadi Murmu on Sunday sailed on the naval submarine INS Bagsheer. Mrs. Murmu is the second President of the country after Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam to avail such an opportunity. Mrs. Murmu, the highest commander of the Indian Defence Forces, reached the Karwar port on Sunday. She was welcomed by the Chief of the Indian Navy, Admiral Dinesh Tripathi. After that, the President and Admiral Tripathi sailed on INS Bagsheer. INS Bagsheer is a Kalbarri-class submarine. Built at the Mazgaon Dockyard in Mumbai, this submarine is equipped with 18 warheads including missiles and torpedoes. It is noteworthy that President Murmu has already flown in two Indian Air Force fighter jets, the Sukhoi and the Rafale.
